Cannonier Resigns

May 20, 2014
By Ayo Johnson

Cannonier Resigns
Premier Craig Cannonier is making his final exit from the Premiership as we speak. An entourage of two cars  – one containing the Premier and the other driven by Deputy Premier Michael Dunkley arrived at Government House at 9:30 pm.

Cannonier had been expected at 8:30 pm, according to our sources.

Security is tighter than normal and media are being kept out of the main grounds.

By tendering his resignation tonight, Cannonier has avoided what would have been a majority vote against him at tomorrow’s ruling party caucus meeting.

The resignation also avoids a power struggle in parliament and a possible vote of no confidence in the Government – for now.

Mr Dunkley is being sworn in.
